Description

Join MDE-LIO in a two-hour online workshop to learn how to use BrailleBlaster, a free braille transcription program from the American Printing House for the Blind (APH). BrailleBlaster can be used to create braille worksheets, quizzes, notes, letters, or even math and technical materials for yourself or your students. Workshop participants must know how to read and write braille.

During this workshop, participants will:

  • Use BrailleBlaster at a basic level
  • Continue exploring the software on their own
  • Access available resources to become more adept at using the software

Presenter

William Freeman, Software Quality Assurance and Certified Transcriber, American Printing House for the Blind (APH) will present this workshop. Mr. Freeman is passionate about literacy in general and in braille specifically. As a writer, avid reader, and braille transcriber, he believes strongly in the mission that no one should be deprived of reading materials in the medium they prefer.

Required Technology

This workshop will be conducted online. Participants must have a computer with a camera and a reliable internet connection. Each participant's computer must also have the latest version of BrailleBlaster installed from BrailleBlaster.org.
