Join MDE-LIO to learn everything you wanted to know about using Word and the internet with JAWS but were too afraid to ask!
This will be an informative and interactive workshop on using the JAWS screen reader with Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Microsoft Word. During the workshop, the MDE-LIO Technology Team will answer your questions on common issues that arise when using JAWS. This will be a very practical exploration of methods that our Technology Team members use in their own training and what they have found handy for their personal use.
Participants will learn:
- How to find resources for both JAWS instruction and Word training.
- Principles that the MDE-LIO Technology Team have found useful when training beginners and advanced users of JAWS with Word.
- Practical methods for exploring websites with Chrome, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge, and the differences between browsers and search engines.
- How to deal with difficult websites teachers have encountered.
SCECHs are pending.
This class will be conducted online. Participants must have reliable internet access and a computer with a camera. Participants must also have a computer with Microsoft 2016 or 2019 and JAWS 17 or newer installed on their device. It may also be helpful to have Firefox, Chrome, and Microsoft Edge browsers installed. Participants will be provided with instructions beforehand on how to access the class.
Groups may participate online if each individual completes the registration process (including payment) prior to the registration deadline. Group registrations are not accepted.
