Michigan Department of Education - Low Incidence Outreach (MDE-LIO) will host a one-day event designed to help parents or other adult family members prepare their children, birth to six, who are Blind/Visually Impaired (BVI) to succeed in school.

The event will include:

  • What parents should understand about the development of a child who is BVI
  • Parent perspectives of raising a young child who is BVI
  • Breakout sessions on the importance of early literacy, assistive technology, orientation and mobility, and independent living skills
  • Informational booths
