The Michigan Department of Education - Low Incidence Outreach (MDE-LIO) will host a one-day event designed to help parents or other adult family members prepare their children to be independent. The event is for parents of children who are in Pre-K through 6th grade and who are Blind/Visually Impaired. Lunch will be provided.

This event will include:

  • Tools and strategies for promoting Independent Living Skills, Assistive Technology, and Orientation and Mobility
  • Parent perspectives on raising an independent child
  • Information booths
