MDE-LIO is pleased to sponsor the 2017 Aviation Challenge Mach III Camp Essay Competition! One winner will be selected by the 2017 essay committee to receive an all-expense-paid trip to the Aviation Challenge Mach III Camp for Deaf students June 25-30. Certified/qualified ASL interpreters will be provided by the Space Camp organization.
During the camp, the winners will travel to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL, to participate in simulated aviation activities and mission planning. Trainees will plan missions for situational reconnaissance and participate in field training focused on teamwork and survival strategies. Sound exciting? Enter the competition today!
The competition is open to students ages 15-18 in grades 10-12 who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing. Students must have an interest in math, science, and aviation, be able to communicate and collaborate with others, and enjoy new social learning experiences. (Flight simulator restrictions include minimum height of 48" and maximum weight of 260 pounds)
The topic of the essay is "Why I should be chosen to go to Aviation Challenge Mach III Camp." Entries should be no more than one written page, and should include the student's name, address, phone number, and email address.
