The ASLPI is an assessment administered by Gallaudet University to measure the functional ability of adults communicating through American Sign Language (ASL).
Michigan school districts may use the ASLPI to assess employees who work with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH). If appropriate, the ASLPI can be used to assess students who are 16 or older and who are applying for the Seal of Biliteracy.
ASLPI scheduling is currently on hold due to COVID-19. Gallaudet University is continuing to investigate ways to conduct distance/remote ASLPI testing and hopes to be able to resume testing soon. Visit Gallaudet's ASLPI page for more information.
