Early Literacy Matters
Early literacy is important for all children to develop language and concepts. ABCs for VIPs has a collection of more than 1,000 books in braille for preschoolers to third graders. This program helps you expose early braille readers to many age-appropriate books so they can develop their literacy skills.
Borrow Braille Books for Preschoolers to Third Graders
You can borrow one set of our books for up to three months if you are a Michigan:
- Parent/family member of a student who reads braille
- School district personnel
- School or public library
New preschool and kindergarten books are now available. You can request ten titles from the ABC's for VIPs Book List [PDF]. Please indicate which titles you would like to check out in the "Book Titles" field below. Quantities are limited. If a title is not available, another title will be selected by MDE-LIO staff.
If you would like to receive a pre-packaged set of books, leave the 'Book Titles" field blank. We track which sets of books you've received to make sure you get a different collection with each order.
