Parents and service providers of children ages birth to six who are Blind/Visually Impaired (BVI), Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH), or DeafBlind are invited to this one-day conference. Janice Fialka, LMSW, ACSW, will speak about the “Dance of Partnership” between families and school personnel who support early childhood students. The remainder of the day will consist of breakout sessions related to working with students who are DHH, BVI, and DeafBlind. SCECHs are pending.
Conference participants will:
- Gain tools to enhance the parent/school partnership
- Learn from other parents of students who are BVI, DHH, or DeafBlind
- Learn about strategies for working with students
- Gather information from a variety of vendors

Janice Fialka, LMSW, ACSW, is a nationally recognized lecturer, author, and advocate on issues related to disability, parent-school partnerships, inclusion, raising a child with a disability, sibling issues, and postsecondary education. She is also a parent, poet, compelling storyteller, and award-winning advocate for families and persons with disabilities.
A block of rooms is available the night of November 21 at Crowne Plaza Lansing West. Information on reserving a room will be provided in the registration confirmation email.
