Do you need help with conducting functional vision assessments? Whether you are new to the field or are a seasoned professional, join MDE-LIO staff for this half-day workshop. We will share information on how to perform a functional vision assessment (FVA), including techniques for assessing various age groups. This is the second workshop in a series on essential assessments. 

Get ideas and resources for:

  • materials to use
  • assessment forms
  • conducting assessments and writing reports

SCECHs are pending.


This workshop is for school personnel supporting students in Michigan who are Blind/Visually Impaired (BVI). College students studying BVI professions are also invited to attend.

Required Technology

This workshop will be conducted online via Zoom; participants do not need to have Zoom, but they must have internet access and a computer with a camera. Participants are expected to be respectful and courteous to others during this event. MDE-LIO reserves the right to mute, turn off video, and/or remove participants who do not adhere to this expectation.


Attendees must be able to log into and participate in this workshop individually; it is not conducive to group participation.
