Description
Join MDE-LIO Education Consultant Amanda English for a one-hour session to discuss independent living skills (ILS). In each session, participants will gain ideas they can incorporate into lessons to help students who are Blind or Visually Impaired (BVI) become more independent. ILS includes skills such as cooking, cleaning, hygiene, organization, and more. Sessions will include demonstrations either by a professional or by a student who is BVI.
Audience
This webinar is for school personnel supporting students in Michigan who are Blind or Visually Impaired, as well as parents/guardians.
Required Technology
This event will be conducted online via Zoom; participants do not need to have Zoom, but they must have internet access and a computer with a camera.
Online Event Expectations
Participants are expected to be respectful and courteous to others during this event. MDE-LIO reserves the right to mute, turn off video, and/or remove participants who do not adhere to this expectation. Please note that late arrivals without prior notification may result in the event being canceled.
Accessibility Accommodations
It is important for participants to request accessibility accommodations at least three weeks prior to the event. Outside agencies MDE-LIO contracts with to provide accommodations cannot guarantee services if requests are made in less than three weeks.
