Description
Join the Michigan Department of Education – Low Incidence Outreach (MDE-LIO) to discuss tips and tricks for teaching independent living skills (ILS). This free one-hour session is for professionals who serve students who are Blind/Visually Impaired (BVI) and parents to learn a variety of methods for teaching ILS. Learn tricks for basic cooking, cleaning, laundry, dressing, organizational, and home maintenance. There is no one right way to teach ILS, so bring your ideas to share with the group!
Participants will:
- gain skills for teaching students basic cooking, cleaning, laundry, dressing, organizational, and home maintenance
- demonstrate their ideas for teaching ILS
- gather resources for teaching ILS
Audience
This webinar is for school personnel and parents/guardians supporting students who are BVI.
Required Technology
This event will be conducted online via Zoom; participants do not need to have Zoom, but they must have internet access and a computer with a camera.
Online Event Expectations
Participants are expected to be respectful and courteous to others during this event. MDE-LIO reserves the right to mute, turn off video, and/or remove participants who do not adhere to this expectation.
Accommodations
It is important for participants to request accessibility accommodations at least three weeks prior to the event. Outside agencies MDE-LIO contracts with to provide accommodations cannot guarantee services if requests are made in less than three weeks.
