Description

Join MDE-LIO and DeafBlind Central (DB Central) for an online winter transition conference! This one-day conference will include a keynote presentation by Stephanie Cawthon, director of the National Deaf Center on Postsecondary Outcomes. It will also include general sessions and breakout sessions aimed toward transition needs and services for students who are Blind or Visually Impaired (BVI), Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH), or DeafBlind (DB). SCECHs are pending.

Participants will:

  • Increase skills with writing transition plans for students who are BVI, DHH, or DB
  • Learn how to access transition resources for working with transition-aged students
  • Learn about transition-based agencies and programs for students who are BVI, DHH, or DB

Audience

This conference is for Michigan transition coordinators, counselors, social workers, teachers, and consultants for students who are BVI, DHH, or DB.

Early Bird Special

For Michigan school personnel who register by November 13, 2020, the early registration fee is $30. After that date, the fee is $50.

Required Technology

This conference will be conducted online via Zoom; participants do not need to have Zoom, but they must have internet access and a computer (desktop or laptop) with a camera. Instructions will be provided beforehand on how to access the conference. Attendees must be able to log into and participate in this conference individually; it is not conducive to group participation.

Accommodations

An American Sign Language interpreter will be available during this conference; please indicate on your registration form if you require any other accommodations. Please note that it is important for participants to request accommodations at least three weeks prior to the webinar. Outside agencies MDE-LIO contracts with to provide accommodations cannot guarantee services if requests are made in less than three weeks.
