Description
Which browsers are best for screen reader users? Which ones have the most low-vision options? In this Talk Tech Tuesday, join MDE-LIO Technology Team instructors on a journey to surf the internet using a variety of browsers and extensions.
Participants will be able to:
- identify three barriers users with print disabilities experience when browsing the internet
- identify three browsers used today
- name four browser extensions with features for users who are Blind or Visually Impaired
- connect the Assistive Technology Guidelines to extensions for various browsers
About Talk Tech Tuesdays
In this free webinar series, learn skills and techniques for teaching assistive technology (AT) to students who are Blind or Visually Impaired (BVI). Each session will be held the last Tuesday of every month through May 2024. These webinars are open to anyone who would like to brush up on their AT skills, learn about recent AT updates, obtain resources, and more!
Audience
Professionals, parents, college students studying BVI professions, and high school students in grades 10-12 are welcome to attend.
Required Technology
This event will be conducted online via Zoom; participants do not need to have Zoom, but they must have internet access and a computer with a camera.
Online Event Expectations
Participants are expected to be respectful and courteous to others during this event. MDE-LIO reserves the right to mute, turn off video, and/or remove participants who do not adhere to this expectation.
Accommodations
It is important for participants to request accessibility accommodations at least three weeks prior to the event. Outside agencies MDE-LIO contracts with to provide accommodations cannot guarantee services if requests are made in less than three weeks.
