Several Language Equality and Acquisition for Deaf Kids (LEAD-K) Michigan recommended assessments and other educational materials designed for young children who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) are now available at no cost to Michigan early intervention and school personnel. These resources support language and literacy development of children who are DHH, ages five and younger, to build a strong foundation of language for kindergarten readiness. Individual providers and school teams are encouraged to communicate assessment, curricula, and literature needs with their supervisor.
Please Note
The American Sign Language Expressive Skills Test (ASL-EST) and the Visual Communication and Sign Language Checklist (VCSL) are not available for request. Specialized training is required to purchase and use these assessments. MDE RDHH will offer these specialized trainings soon. Please visit our events section for more information.
The Communication Matrix is also not available to request. This assessment is available online and requires digital credits to access. For more information about the Communication Matrix and how to receive two free digital credits, visit communicationmatrix.org.
