Spring is a time when many high school students are looking forward to starting college in the fall. Below are some resources for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) who may be searching for financial assistance and scholarships.
- MI Student Aid offers resources for all Michigan residents.
- Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) supports Michigan residents who have a disability as they search for employment. Individuals with an open case may be eligible for reimbursement for tuition or other college-related costs.
College scholarships for students who are DHH:
- Each year, Michigan School Professionals for Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (MSPSDHH) offers a scholarship to a qualifying high school junior or senior. Visit Scholarship Application Information to learn more.
- In 2019, the Phonak Teen Advisory Board created US scholarships for students who are D/deaf or hard of hearing [PDF], a list of scholarships that are available for students in the US who are DHH.
- Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf offers the AG Bell College Scholarship Program to qualifying applicants.
- Cochlear America offers Cochlear America Scholarships for their product recipients.
- Sertoma, a service club, offers a $1,000 Hard of Hearing or Deaf Scholarship for students who are DHH.
Other possible sources of information on financial aid or scholarships:
- The student’s local Lion’s Club, Rotary Club, or Quota Club
- National Association for the Deaf (NAD)
- Michigan School for the Deaf (MSD)

Students can also contact the financial aid office and the office of disability services at the university they wish to attend. Both offices should have helpful resources.
