The Michigan Department of Education – Low Incidence Outreach (MDE-LIO) and The Holley Institute will collaborate to offer an online summer transition program on August 3-4, 2020, for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH).

This program is for Michigan students ages 14 to 16. The program will help students improve their soft skills, self-confidence skills, and social and friendship skills. Students will also have an opportunity to develop pre-employment transition skills, including:

  • Resume-building
  • Filling out a job application
  • Interviewing
  • Workplace etiquette
  • Self-advocacy
  • Self-identity

For parents, an evening workshop will provide an overview of the transition process. A panel of adults who are DHH will also discuss their work experiences.

The deadline to register is July 27, 2020: Summer Transition Program Registration
