The Michigan Department of Education Resource for Blind/Low Vision (MDE RBLV) and Resource for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (MDE RDHH) Student Advisory Board is a unique opportunity for high school students who are blind/low vision or deaf/hard of hearing and will be entering grades 9-12 in the 2025-2026 school year. As Student Advisory Board members, students will share their perspectives, experiences, and feedback on programming that will impact students across the state.

Members will:

  • learn more about and influence MDE RBLV's and MDE RDHH's services for students
  • build leadership skills
  • meet engaged students who want to support student programming
  • work with our staff members who want to learn from you!

What will members be expected to do?

Members must commit to:

  • a one-year term (2025-2026 school year)
  • attending bi-monthly meetings (4-6 meetings each year)
  • actively participating in council activities and meetings
  • attending activities determined by the Student Advisory Board

What is the application process?

All you need to do is complete the 2025-2026 MDE RBLV and RDHH Student Advisory Board Application Form by Monday, May 19, 2025. 

Please note that the student and a parent/guardian will need to complete separate sections of the application form. If your application is selected, we will contact you via email to schedule an interview.
